HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MONALISA TREATMENT?

You may drive yourself to and from your treatment.

To ensure optimal results and minimize potential complications, we suggest the following pre-treatment guidelines:

Hygiene: Shower or bathe on the morning of the procedure to ensure the treatment area is clean and free from lotions, creams, or other substances that might interact with the laser.
Hair Management: Trim or closely clip the vulvar area before treatment. Shaving is not mandatory but can be done if preferred.
Clothing: Wear loose-fitting pants and cotton underwear on the day of the procedure to reduce irritation post-treatment.
Sexual Activity: Abstain from vaginal sexual activity for at least 48 hours prior to the procedure.
Vaginal Products: Avoid using any vaginal creams, ointments, lubricants, or other products.
Medical History: Inform your healthcare provider of any medical conditions, medications, or recent procedures.

DOES THE MONALISA TOUCH® PROCEDURE HURT?

Most women find the MonaLisa Touch® procedure to be comfortable, with little or no pain during treatment. The laser treatment is gentle and minimally invasive, and each session typically takes only a few minutes.

Some women, particularly those with significant vaginal dryness or tissue thinning, may experience mild discomfort during the insertion of the treatment probe. WHAT HAPPENS AFTER TREATMENT?

POST-TREATMENT EXPECTATIONS AND CARE

After undergoing MonaLisa Touch treatment, patients may experience mild and temporary side effects. Proper post-treatment care is essential for optimal healing.

Generally, patients can return to normal activities afterwards. We will determine a post-procedure regimen that is right for you

Common Side Effects:

Mild redness or swelling in the treated area.
Slight vaginal discharge, which may be pink or brown.
Mild discomfort, itching, or burning sensation.

Activity Restrictions:

Refrain from vaginal sexual activity for at least 2-3 or more days post-treatment.
Avoid intense physical exercise and heavy lifting for 3-4 days following the procedure.

Hygiene and Care:

Gently cleanse the treated area 2-3 times daily with sterile saline or a mild, hypoallergenic cleanser.
Apply a moisturizing occlusive ointment, such as Aquaphor®, after each cleansing and continue until the area is healed.
Wait at least one day before taking a shower or bath, and avoid using hot water on the treated area until healing is complete.

Clothing:

Wear loose, cotton underwear and avoid tight-fitting pants or pantyhose to reduce irritation.

Symptom Management:

Use cold compresses or cold gel packs (20 minutes on, 20 minutes off) as needed to alleviate swelling and discomfort.

Potential candidates may include women who experience vaginal changes following childbirth, women who have entered premature menopause due to medical treatments or surgery, or certain breast and gynecologic cancer survivors who cannot use hormone therapy. In some cases, younger women with persistent vaginal symptoms that have not responded to other treatments may also be considered.
